Queen's groundbreaking 1986 performance at Budapest's Népstadion is being re-released in theatres worldwide to mark its 40th anniversary. The concert, which made history as the first major Western stadium rock show staged in a Soviet-controlled nation, has undergone extensive technical restoration. Using original 35mm footage, specialists at Peter Jackson's New Zealand post-production facility have transferred the material to 4K resolution whilst also re-mastering the sound from preserved multitrack recordings to create an enhanced viewing and listening experience.
The screening holds particular significance for Queen enthusiasts as it represents the last live performance by vocalist Freddie Mercury to be professionally filmed. The band performed material from their Magic Tour, including signature songs such as "We Will Rock You," "Bohemian Rhapsody," and "Under Pressure," demonstrating their command as live performers at the height of their career and influence.
