Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury has released his first solo album, Bridge To Resolution, a departure from his day job's grindcore assault into progressive, electronic-tinged territory. Best known for decades of extreme noise with the Birmingham grindcore veterans, Embury has long pursued eclectic side-projects, but this record marks the most overtly progressive material he has produced under his own name, and it doubles as a candid reckoning with personal struggles including a renewed battle with alcohol.

The album, inspired partly by a quote from late Rush drummer Neil Peart, blends futuristic post-punk, restless electronics and prog influences into what is described as a bewildering yet accessible listen. It follows his other recent ventures, the ambient/industrial project Dark Sky Burial and the progressive metal collaboration Tronos with producer Russ Russell, but represents his first release credited solely to his own name, framed as a deeply personal, soul-searching work born from difficulties at home and on tour.
