Terry Denton, the renowned Australian children's book illustrator, has died aged 76, surrounded by his family on Monday. He was best known for his three-decade partnership with author Andy Griffiths on the wildly successful Treehouse series, work that brought joy to millions of children worldwide and established him as an iconic figure in children's literature.

Denton's Treehouse series, comprising 13 books, sold over 13 million copies globally and was translated into 35 languages. Beyond this celebrated collaboration, he also illustrated books for authors Mem Fox and Paul Jennings, and wrote and illustrated more than two dozen of his own books, including the Gasp! series, which was adapted into a television programme. His publisher Pan Macmillan paid tribute to his legacy, noting he would be remembered for his "extraordinary imagination and joyful humour".
