IFULKI – “Something Greater”
London-based experimental trio IFULKI has unveiled their debut single, presenting an ambitious musical fusion that draws from Gnawa, electronic, and jazz traditions. The group—led by Queen Kaltoum alongside bassist and synth player Charlie and percussionist Ayman—brings together musicians with diverse cultural heritage. Their first release demonstrates a layered sonic approach combining dissonant trip-hop textures with softer instrumental elements and expressive vocals.
"Something Greater" deliberately creates tension through deep bass lines and intricate percussion, contrasted by brighter piano passages and soaring vocals. The composition balances deliberately unsettling atmospheres with moments of uplift, using dancey rhythmic elements and bittersweet melodic moments to counteract the track's darker undertones throughout.
