Iggy Pop has announced Protomartyr's new album, contributing a colourful liner note in which he praises the Detroit band and compares them to Jesus. The announcement highlights the enduring connection between Pop and Detroit's rock scene, as well as the ongoing critical esteem the band has built over their career.

Protomartyr's forthcoming record, Hotel Usona, is due for release on 25 September via Domino Records and was produced by Dave Fridmann. Alongside the announcement, the band shared a hibachi-themed video for lead single "Sounds We Cannot Hear," and confirmed they will tour North America and Europe this autumn to support the release. The nine-track album features singer Joe Casey, drummer Alex Leonard, bassist Scott Davidson and multi-instrumentalist Greg Ahee.
