Nottingham Forest secured their first win under manager Oliver Glasner, beating Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park to leave Unai Emery's side still winless in the Premier League after four matches. Delap opened the scoring 45 seconds into the second half with a powerful strike after Murillo won the ball back, before Alysson headed Villa level from a John McGinn cross. Villa were further hampered when Ian Maatsen was injured following a foul by James McAtee that Emery felt warranted a red card, leaving John McGinn to fill in at left-back for the closing stages with the team down to 10 men. Igor Jesus, who had come on to replace the injured Dan Ndoye, netted the winner after a slick move involving Muñoz and Morgan Gibbs-White, while Villa also lost Pau Torres to a hamstring injury that could keep him out for a month.
