Ikea’s Xbox collection includes a giant thumbstick stool
Developed over time first seen 2 months ago
Ikea and Microsoft have launched Yxstaby, a nine-piece Xbox-inspired furniture and accessories collection marking 25 years since the first Xbox console. The range aims to make gaming equipment easier to integrate into living spaces, reflecting Ikea’s view that home gaming increasingly centres on relaxation and social connection as well as performance.
The collection combines neutral Scandinavian styling with Xbox-green accents and storage features for controllers and accessories. Its most distinctive items include a thumbstick-shaped stool made using original controller 3D files, an X-shaped cushion, a lounge chair with an under-seat mesh pocket, a wheeled easel-style TV stand, a mobile side table, a mirrored controller display box and a D-pad-inspired trinket dish.

Ikea has teamed up with Microsoft on a nine-piece furniture range called Yxstaby, timed to mark 25 years of the Xbox console. The collection includes items such as a stool shaped like a giant thumbstick, an X-shaped cushion, a controller display box and a wheeled TV stand, designed to fit into a normal living room rather than look like obvious gaming equipment.
The idea behind the range, according to Ikea product developer Philip Dilé, is that gaming at home has become less about pure performance and more about relaxing and socialising, so the furniture aims to be something people genuinely want rather than tolerate. Pieces mix Ikea's usual understated Scandinavian look with touches of Xbox's green branding and hidden storage for controllers and other gaming gear.
The collaboration matters as an example of a major furniture retailer and a games console maker working together to design products around how people actually use technology in their homes, rather than treating gaming kit as separate from everyday furnishings.
