I’m not a fan of Heroes of Might & Magic 3, but I can recognise that Ubisoft have done a faithful job of recreating the much-loved turn-based strategy RPG
Ubisoft has revealed a full remake of Heroes of Might & Magic 3, widely regarded as the best-loved entry in the strategy RPG series, alongside the separately developed Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era from Unfrozen. The remake aims to preserve the spirit of the 1999 original while modernising its visuals and adding quality-of-life improvements, reflecting a renewed push to revive the dormant franchise for both longtime fans and newcomers.
The remake retains the original campaign plus its two expansions, Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death, giving players access to all nine factions, and adds a new three-mission prelude to introduce the story and systems. Core mechanics such as turn-based hero movement, stronghold-based troop recruitment and passive levelling upgrades remain unchanged, while the game gains a full 3D, painterly art style and new features like build queues for keeps. Notably, it supports importing custom maps and campaigns made by the community over the past 25 years, converting old map files into modern-looking levels via its new map creator.
