India’s Yash Raj Films Launches Raah Records With Aman Single ‘Jaadugari’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 2 hours ago

India's Yash Raj Films (YRF), one of the country's leading privately held entertainment studios, has launched a new record label called Raah Records, aimed at discovering and developing original Indian music talent independent of film soundtracks. This marks a notable strategic move for YRF, which has spent over five decades producing music primarily for its own films, as it now seeks a foothold in India's growing independent music scene by backing standalone artists over the long term rather than releasing one-off tracks.

The label's debut release, "Jaadugari" by singer-songwriter Aman, arrives on major streaming platforms on 5 August, following a year of behind-the-scenes collaboration between the artist and the label. Raah Records is being positioned as a career-focused incubator rather than a conventional release-driven label, led by Nakul Sharma, YRF's senior general manager for music management, who will oversee artist development, songwriting, production and marketing support. YRF chief executive Akshaye Widhani described the venture as building on the studio's five-decade legacy of talent discovery, and the company says further artists and releases are planned as the label's roster expands.
