The images, the first of Flynn since his tearful 2008 courtroom apology, emerge weeks after Pamela Smart, now 58, appeared at a New Hampshire hearing seeking to have her life sentence overturned, reviving public interest in one of America's most notorious murder-for-hire cases.

Flynn was 15 when he began an affair with Smart, then a 22-year-old school media coordinator, who prosecutors said manipulated him into killing her husband. In May 1990 Flynn, then 16, shot Gregg Smart during a staged burglary at the couple's New Hampshire condo, aided by three teenage accomplices. He and accomplice Patrick Randall pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, serving 25 years before their 2015 release, while Pamela Smart was convicted as an accomplice to first-degree murder and remains in prison for life, continuing to deny involvement and now arguing prosecutors gave jurors inaccurate transcripts. Flynn has since married, gained an electrician's qualification, and settled in a Cape Cod-style home in Newcastle, Maine worth almost $565,000.
