Damien John Shaw, a 56-year-old Australian, killed his six-year-old son Archie and four-year-old daughter Laura at the family’s Bali villa before taking his own life. The children’s mother, Tessa Yanuar, and her mother returned to the property after police released it, as the family confronted the scene of the killings and mourned the children.

Police said Yanuar raised the alarm remotely after viewing CCTV and hearing Laura say, “Stop, Daddy”; investigators later reported footage showing the girl trying to flee. Yanuar objected to post-mortems and held the children’s funerals on the day after their deaths, while tributes, photographs and handwritten messages were placed at their graves.
