Inside the incredible comeback of Roxy Jacenko’s husband: From jailhouse to billionaire after massive ChatGPT deal

Daily Mail · 23 minutes ago

Oliver Curtis, husband of publicist Roxy Jacenko, has secured a major multi-year deal to supply computing capacity to OpenAI through his Sydney-based firm Firmus Technologies, positioning the company for what could be the largest listing on the Australian Securities Exchange this decade. The agreement, announced on Tuesday, marks a striking turnaround for Curtis, who was jailed in 2016 for conspiring to commit insider trading, and comes as Firmus prepares for a float that could value it at up to $30 billion.

The deal will lift Firmus's total data centre capacity to 900 megawatts across sites in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, with two facilities already operational and five more due by the end of 2028; the firm effectively supplies the physical infrastructure and chips OpenAI needs to train models and run ChatGPT. Curtis, who founded Firmus in 2019 with cousin Tom Rosenfield, has now struck deals with OpenAI, Nvidia and Meta. He was convicted in 2016 over insider trading tip-offs from school friend John Joseph Hartman, an equities dealer who passed on confidential trading information from Orion Asset Management on 45 occasions in 2007-08, netting the pair around $1.4 million; Curtis served 12 months of a two-year sentence and was released on parole nine years ago.
