Inspired by Dark Messiah and Thief, this stealth game sees you sneak through a medieval megastructure prowled by undead guards
The Citadel Project is a stealth game from solo developer Reliquary Software that combines ideas from Thief and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Players take the role of a sickle-wielding prisoner trying to escape a vast medieval fortress guarded by undead, and the game is due to enter Steam early access on 11 November.
A demo lets players sneak through underground caverns, using shadows and a crossbow with different bolt types, or pushing enemies into hazards. The game also has checkpoints for upgrades and tells parts of its story through collected notes and item descriptions. The article describes its atmosphere and large environments positively, while noting that some interactions need refinement and that stealth remains the main focus.
