Interpol announce intimate London replacement show after Bloc Party co-headline gig cancelled
Interpol will play a replacement London show on 4 December after venue planning issues led to the cancellation of two planned co-headline concerts with Bloc Party. The single, more intimate performance gives the band a chance to play for London fans in support of their eighth album, *This Mirror Weighs A Ton*.
The new show is at the British Airways Arc at Olympia, which has a capacity of 3,800, compared with 7,000 at the Grand Hall where the original dates were scheduled. Interpol will perform without Bloc Party; tickets go on pre-sale at 9am on 5 November and general sale at 9am on 6 November. Their UK and European tour begins in Copenhagen next week.
In short
- Interpol have announced one replacement London show for 4 December.
- The 3,800-capacity British Airways Arc replaces two cancelled Olympia dates.
- Bloc Party will not perform at the new show.
Explained simply
Interpol are an American rock band formed in New York in the late 1990s, known for dark, tightly arranged guitar music. Bloc Party are a British rock band who rose to prominence in the 2000s. The groups had been due to share two London concerts.
A co-headline show features two acts as leading performers, while a replacement date gives audiences another chance to see one of them after an event is cancelled. The new venue, British Airways Arc at Olympia, is smaller than the Grand Hall planned for the original concerts, so the change affects the scale and line-up of the London performance.
