As It Is have released their new self-titled album via FLG, marking the return of the band's original four-member line-up after a period apart. In a cover feature for Rock Sound magazine (Issue 319), frontman Patty Walters and guitarist Ben Biss discussed how rebuilding their personal friendships alongside their working relationship shaped what they describe as their most honest, unified and celebratory record to date.

The pair explained that giving themselves no external deadlines, rather than writing amid a packed touring schedule, allowed the songs to develop naturally and experimentally. Walters also reflected on how years of personal therapy changed his approach to songwriting, saying he no longer uses lyrics to work out his feelings but instead to express insights he has already reached about himself.
