INTERVIEW: Imminence On Shattering Expectations, Heightening Ambition & ‘Axis Mundi’
Swedish metalcore band Imminence say their new album, ‘Axis Mundi’, marks a deliberate creative step beyond the success of ‘The Black’. Vocalist Eddie Berg describes the record as a natural progression shaped by freedom to experiment, and says the band wanted to make work that felt exciting to them rather than repeat a previous sound.
The band recorded 16 songs in finished form before choosing material that gave the album contrast and a sense of journey. Its visual concept grew from a collaboration with longtime art director Jacob, whose images of knights in a clean, studio-like setting echoed the music’s mix of modern and classical elements. The article also describes an accompanying short film about a knight questioning his place and purpose, as Imminence prepare to tour across the Atlantic.
