Inviting beaches and delightful physics await you in literal sandbox game, Sandcastle
Rock Paper Shotgun has previewed Sandcastle, an upcoming physics-based game that lets players build and sculpt sandcastles on a variety of beach locations. Positioned as similar to the acclaimed building game Tiny Glade but somewhat simpler in scope, it aims to give players a relaxing, seaside-themed sandbox experience, complete with realistic sand behaviour and coastal atmosphere.
Players start with a small patch of sand and basic tools to build walls, towers and crenelations, unlocking further beach-themed locations as they progress. The sand reacts realistically to moisture, becoming crumbly when dry and denser when wet, while castles built too close to the shore gradually erode from lapping waves, meaning overly thin structures can collapse unless reinforced with damp sand. Players can also collect starfish and shells scattered around the levels, with starfish unlocking further customisation options. Sandcastle has no confirmed release date yet, but a playable demo is due on 6 August, and the game can already be wishlisted on Steam.
