IPL 2026 Powers India’s JioStar to $1.14 Billion Quarter and Streaming Record
JioStar, India's leading media platform, posted revenue of INR10,946 crore ($1.14 billion) for the quarter ending 30 June 2026, a 14% year-on-year rise fuelled by subscription growth and stronger digital advertising. The results were driven largely by the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament, which reached a combined 1.2 billion viewers across digital and linear platforms, making it the most-watched T20 tournament ever and pushing the company's streaming service JioHotstar to a record 530 million monthly active users.
Operating EBITDA climbed 30.7% to INR933 crore ($96.8 million), reflecting operating leverage from the strong top-line growth. On linear television, JioStar held a 34% overall viewership share and 44% in Hindi-speaking pay-TV markets, while its regional channels each led their respective markets and it topped the kids' TV category with a 47% share. The quarter also saw digital expansion, including short-form hub Tadka surpassing 100 million users within two months, a ChatGPT-powered discovery tool, and an in-app Swiggy food-ordering feature launched during IPL matches, half of whose orders came from Tier-II cities and beyond.
