Iran tells Russia talks with US without guarantees won’t end conflict, report says
Iran’s ambassador to Moscow said Tehran has told Russia that talks with the United States cannot end the conflict without credible guarantees. The position reflects Iranian concerns about previous US commitments and attacks during diplomatic initiatives.
Kazem Jalali said Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei discussed the issue with President Vladimir Putin in a three-hour meeting, alongside military and security cooperation. Rezaei also raised the Rasht-Astara railway and the International North-South Transport Corridor. Jalali said Iran requires Washington to accept seven strategic conditions before any new diplomatic initiative, and that Moscow understood Tehran’s position.
