Is That Cameron Winter on Phoebe Bridgers’ New Album?

Rolling Stone · 4 hours ago

Rolling Stone has spotted what appears to be a cameo from Geese frontman Cameron Winter on Phoebe Bridgers' forthcoming album Lost Weekend, credited under the pseudonym "Son-John Johnson". The mystery vocalist appears on two tracks, "Kill Me" and "I Can't Wait", with a voice bearing a striking resemblance to Winter's distinctive falsetto, though neither Winter nor a representative for Bridgers would confirm it outright.

When asked directly, Winter laughed off the question, joking he would "have to contact my lawyer", while a rep for Bridgers did not respond to a request for comment. The theory is bolstered by Winter's known fondness for aliases, having recently played a secret solo show under the name "Chet Chomsky". Lost Weekend, out 14 August via Dead Oceans, is Bridgers' first solo album in six years since 2020's Punisher, and also features Christian Lee Hutson, her boygenius bandmates, Jack Antonoff and Alex G. She kicks off the accompanying, entirely phone-free Lost Tour on 15 September in Indianapolis.
