Israel's military says it has destroyed a major underground Hezbollah complex beneath the Ali Taher Ridge in southern Lebanon, using more than 1,000 tonnes of explosives to blow up over 2km of tunnels. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the site, built over two decades with Iranian funding, housed a command centre for Hezbollah's Badr unit along with rockets, missiles, drones and other weapons, and that its destruction completed a mission to demolish eight tunnels and secure the area. Neither Hezbollah nor the Lebanese government has publicly responded.

The explosion registered as seismic activity equivalent to a magnitude 4.1 earthquake, with residents describing shaking felt as far as Saida, 40km away, and people fleeing the nearby town of Nabatieh in panic. The blast follows months of fighting on the ridge, which Israeli forces seized last week, and comes amid continued Israeli strikes elsewhere in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreed after war resumed in March. Israeli forces still occupy roughly 5% of Lebanese territory, and at least 4,362 people have been killed in Lebanon during the conflict, against 40 Israeli soldiers and four civilians, according to official figures on each side.
