“It all bleeds into this big thing”: Man/Woman/Chainsaw on their rapid rise to ‘Cannonball’

Far Out · 2 weeks ago

London six-piece Man/Woman/Chainsaw discuss their rapid development ahead of their debut album, ‘Cannonball’, presenting it as the result of years of live experimentation, shared influences and increasingly assured collaboration. The album matters as a first full statement from a band whose energetic, unconventional art-punk has already earned a growing live following and a record deal.

The group say they have played nearly 200 shows since forming as teenagers, using performances to test, reshape and refine songs before recording them. Due for release on 7th August via Fiction Records, ‘Cannonball’ contains 11 tracks and follows 2024 EP ‘Eazy Peazy’; recent singles include ‘Nosedive’, ‘Only Girl’ and ‘Goddamn, Lizard Man!’. Vocalist Billy Ward says the band’s music draws together their listening habits, friendships, surroundings and experiences, which “all bleeds into this big thing”.
