Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm have announced their first-ever crossover, a five-issue limited series called "Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles", combining characters from both franchises for the first time. The series, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original Star Wars film, is notable for being set within Marvel's official Earth-616 comic book continuity, meaning the story will form part of Marvel's canon.

The series is written by filmmaker and lifelong fan Kevin Smith, with art by David Marquez, and will unite contemporary Marvel heroes and villains with the classic Star Wars cast from the A New Hope era. Smith said he had long wanted to see characters such as Spider-Man cross over into the Star Wars saga, while Lucasfilm Publishing's Michael Siglain described the project as a "love letter" to both franchises. "Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles" #1 is due for release in January 2027.
