Ellie White and Natasia Demetriou return with a second sketch series

The Guardian ·

Ellie White and Natasia Demetriou are returning with a second series of their BBC sketch show, bringing back familiar characters such as their overzealous mums and the owners of the fictional Internet Nails salon. The comedians say becoming mothers themselves has given them more empathy for the domestic pressures they parody, while they have kept pregnancy from becoming the focus of the new series.

The three-year gap since the first series was due partly to scheduling, but both discovered they were pregnant again shortly after writing began, so they wrote and filmed quickly; White went into labour during editing. The series shifts from specific music parodies towards humour about social media trends, which the pair say can be difficult to satirise when similar content already exists online. It begins on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer on 21 October.
