“It’s going to be very difficult. It’s hard to let go”: Is Pallas’ new album the veterans’ final bow?
Pallas have released A Song For Tomorrow, an album that may be the Scottish progressive rock band’s final record. Keyboard player Ronnie Brown says he and guitarist Niall Mathewson felt they had taken the band as far as they could, while singer Alan Reed’s Parkinson’s diagnosis has contributed to his decision to stop performing live.
The 10-track album is the band’s ninth since forming in 1976, and moves between shorter songs and longer pieces, with all four members contributing vocals and singer Natasha O’Neil appearing as a guest. Touring is not planned: the group’s last gig was in 2015, and the end of live performances was announced in 2024, with touring costs and Mathewson’s move to Cambodia among the reasons. Reed is working on a solo album, while Brown says the other members may continue writing together.
In short
- Pallas’ new album may be their last.
- Alan Reed is stepping away from live performances.
- Reed has a solo album in the pipeline.
