It’s not harassment to say ‘you’re my b***h now’ to junior colleague, tribunal rules
A Scottish employment tribunal dismissed Craig Milne’s claims of sexual harassment and discrimination against WBC Media CIC, which runs Coast Radio. The case centred on station manager Gavin Harper telling Milne, “You’re my bitch now” during a meeting about work arrangements; the tribunal found the remark was made to assert Harper’s authority and did not amount to sex harassment.
Milne joined the Peterhead station in May 2024, contracted for 20 hours a week at £12.50 an hour, plus £20 per advert. A dispute arose after he invoiced for substantially more hours than agreed, and directors said future work and costs needed Harper’s approval. The tribunal heard others laughed at Harper’s remark, Milne did not complain at the time, and the meeting ended amicably.
In short
- Tribunal rejects harassment and discrimination claims.
- Manager’s remark came during a discussion about workplace hierarchy.
- The dispute followed disagreements over invoices and work arrangements.
