Jack Huston, Chazz Palminteri & Kathleen Chalfant Join Hulu’s ‘Chicks’ Pilot
Hulu's family dramedy pilot "Chicks" has added Jack Huston, Chazz Palminteri and Kathleen Chalfant to a cast already led by Ellen Pompeo and Jodie Whittaker. Written and executive produced by Katie Robbins, the project is significant as a new star vehicle for Pompeo, developed with Robbins after the pair worked together on the Hulu limited series "Good American Family", and marks a notable ensemble build-out ahead of a potential series order.
Set in the gentrifying old neighbourhoods of Boston, the story follows estranged half-sisters Chickie (Pompeo) and Doreen (Whittaker), who turn to running elaborate cons after the unexpected death of their small-time crook father. Huston joins as a series regular playing "The Clooney", a charming businessman drawn to Chickie, while Palminteri guest stars as the sisters' late father, a neighbourhood fixer with four ex-wives, and Chalfant plays their formidable aunt. Pompeo and Robbins executive produce alongside Robbins's Calamity Jane partner Laura Holstein.
