Jake Johnson Reveals How He Inspired ‘Drunk History’ in Teaser for Mythical Kitchen’s New Series [Exclusive]
Actor Jake Johnson will feature on the debut episode of "Breaking Down a Career in 5 Dishes," a new YouTube series from Mythical Kitchen, in which host and chef Josh Scherer serves him a five-course meal inspired by roles from his career, including Nick Miller from "New Girl", Peter B. Parker from the "Spider-Verse" films, and Doug Renetti from "Minx". Each dish is designed to prompt discussion about behind-the-scenes memories, and in a released teaser Johnson recounts his previously unknown role in the origins of "Drunk History", the long-running comedy series in which an inebriated narrator retells historical events.
According to the clip, "Drunk History" creator Derek Waters, a friend of Johnson's from their Second City Comedy circle, was inspired to start the show after Johnson drunkenly told him a wildly inaccurate account of Otis Redding's death in 2007. Waters then asked Johnson to recreate the story on camera, though Johnson turned it down as he had just joined the actors' union. The episode airs the day before Johnson's new film "The Dink", about a former tennis prodigy turned pickleball player, premieres on Apple TV on 24 July.
