Basketball star Jalen Brunson is hosting Saturday Night Live's season 52 premiere on 26 September in a promotional sketch that plays on his recent success leading the New York Knicks to their first NBA championship in 53 years. The promo features Brunson attempting to enter SNL's Studio 8H armed with his ceremonial Key to the City, only to find the key won't unlock the studio door, prompting increasingly absurd attempts to break in using a mallet and chainsaw whilst cast member Ben Marshall attempts to stop him.

Brunson was awarded the Key to the City following the Knicks' championship victory and was named 2026 NBA Finals MVP after averaging 32.6 points per game across the five-game series. The SNL season premiere will mark his first time hosting the long-running NBC sketch series, and he will be joined by global girl group KATSEYE as musical guests—their SNL debut. KATSEYE, currently comprising four active members, recently achieved their first Billboard 200 number one with their EP WILD.
