The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a spy film set during the Cold War, when the United States and the Soviet Union were competing for power around the world. It follows Napoleon Solo, an American CIA agent, and Illya Kuryakin, an operative for the Soviet KGB, who are normally rivals but must work together.

Their mission involves a criminal group trying to obtain nuclear technology, a major concern in an era when both superpowers had nuclear weapons. The film also features Gaby Teller, played by Alicia Vikander, whose family connections are important to the mission.

Guy Ritchie directed the film with a stylised approach that mixes espionage, action and comedy. Henry Cavill was already known for playing Superman, while the supporting cast includes Armie Hammer, Elizabeth Debicki, Jared Harris and Hugh Grant.
