The James Bond franchise is advancing toward its next chapter following Daniel Craig's five-year absence from the role. Amazon MGM Studios, which recently acquired creative oversight from longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, has initiated the casting search. Producer Amy Pascal indicated that an announcement regarding the new 007 could arrive by the end of 2026, providing the first official timeline for when audiences might learn who will inherit the legendary spy role.

The production team has emphasised a methodical selection process aimed at finding someone who will bring a distinctly fresh interpretation to the character. The creative vision for the next film features scriptwriter Steven Knight and director Denis Villeneuve, known for his Dune work. Several actors have emerged as candidates in recent speculation, including Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi, and Tom Francis, whilst previous contender Idris Elba publicly declined consideration earlier this year.
