James Gunn has revealed that "Big Brother 28" contestant Rick Devens was originally set to make a cameo appearance in his upcoming film "Man of Tomorrow" but had to withdraw due to filming commitments on the reality show. The DC Studios co-head shared the news on Threads after Devens gave him a shoutout during the live broadcast of the show's Thursday eviction episode, prompting fans to ask whether the "Survivor" alum would appear in the "Superman" sequel.

Gunn explained that Devens was due to appear in the background of the film but had to cancel, though his wife and children still attended the shoot; Devens reportedly could not explain why but assured Gunn he would be pleased, which he was. Devens was one of three surprise houseguests introduced during the "Big Brother" Season 28 premiere, a series that airs on CBS and Paramount+ with contestants competing for a $750,000 prize. "Man of Tomorrow," the sequel to 2025's "Superman," stars David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult and is due for release on 9 July 2027.
