Jamie Dornan Boards ‘Nostalgie,’ Starring Aidan Gillen as Washed-up Pop Star, as Executive Producer (Exclusive)
Jamie Dornan has joined Kathryn Ferguson’s short film *Nostalgie* as an executive producer, supporting a Northern Irish production as it enters awards season. The film has qualified for Oscar consideration and could compete for the best live action short film award; Dornan said he wanted to champion filmmaking talent from Belfast, his home city.
Aidan Gillen stars as Drew Lord Haig, a faded 1980s pop star invited to perform at a Belfast centenary celebration, where a once-forgotten song has become an anthem with a meaning beyond his control. Adapted from a short story by Wendy Erskine, the dark comedy explores artistic ownership and the relationship between musicians and audiences. It won best live action short at the Irish Film and Television Awards, features original music by Bastille’s Dan Smith, and was written by Stacey Gregg.

Explained simply
Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and has a long-running music and arts scene. Short films are brief, self-contained works, and those that qualify for Oscar consideration may be eligible for the Academy Awards’ short-film categories.
Nostalgie is a dark comedy about Drew Lord Haig, a former pop star whose old song has taken on a public meaning he cannot control. It stars Aidan Gillen and is written by Stacey Gregg, based on a story by Wendy Erskine; its music is by Dan Smith of Bastille.
Jamie Dornan, an actor from Belfast, has joined the film as an executive producer, a role that supports a production rather than appearing on screen. The story touches on who gets to shape the meaning of a song: the person who made it, or the listeners who have made it their own.
