Trump envoys arrive in Moscow for latest Ukraine peace talks

Daily Mail · 1 hour ago

A private jet believed to be carrying Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff has landed in Moscow, marking the start of the latest US attempt to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine. President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that the two envoys were travelling to Moscow and then Kyiv, carrying what he described as a proposal to end the war, though he declined to confirm whether it would require Ukraine to cede territory. The move matters because previous peace efforts have stalled amid the US-Iran conflict, while Russia and Ukraine have escalated long-range strikes, pushing civilian casualties to their highest levels since the war began.

According to Axios, Witkoff and Kushner are expected to meet Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday before travelling to Kyiv to meet Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, in what would be their first visit to the Ukrainian capital. The trip follows a Russian drone strike on the headquarters of Ukraine's SBU security service in Kyiv, the first such attack since the invasion began, after which Zelensky offered a temporary ceasefire for the duration of the talks, a proposal Russia has not yet addressed. Separately, a Russian strike killed four people in Kamianske, while Putin has also threatened UK military factories over Britain's decision to share long-range missile blueprints with Ukraine.
