A BBC investigation and accompanying documentary, "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret," has aired allegations from ten women about inappropriate behaviour by the actor and Thirty Seconds To Mars frontman, with four alleging criminal offences said to have occurred between 2002 and 2016. This followed an earlier Air Mail report in which nine women accused Leto of sexual misconduct, allegations he denied at the time; the BBC's report went further, corroborating several accounts and presenting more specific, detailed claims, many involving girls who were teenagers when the alleged incidents took place.

The BBC said it corroborated many of the women's accounts with friends and family they had confided in at the time, and reviewed photographs and messages consistent with their stories. Alleged incidents include a 17-year-old shop worker in Las Vegas in 2002 who says Leto exposed himself to her in a motel; a woman who says she was warned by Leto, then in his forties, at a London afterparty; a woman who alleges she had sex with Leto in California at 17 when he was 34, after he allegedly asked her to call him "daddy"; and a woman who says Leto signed her T-shirt across her breasts and had her taken backstage when she was 15. Leto has previously denied allegations of misconduct.

Jared Leto is a US actor and lead singer of the band Thirty Seconds to Mars, known for films including Dallas Buyers Club and Suicide Squad. Reports of alleged sexual misconduct against him have circulated before, notably a 2024 Air Mail article in which several women made claims he denied at the time.

The BBC has now released a documentary and investigation containing accounts from ten women, some describing alleged incidents that occurred when they were teenagers, between 2002 and 2016. The broadcaster says it sought supporting evidence for the accounts, such as messages and photographs, and spoke to people the women said they had confided in at the time.

The story matters because it raises questions about the conduct of a high-profile public figure over a period of many years, and because some of the women involved say they were minors when the alleged incidents took place. Leto has previously denied allegations of misconduct made against him.
