The Independent Film Company (IFC) has released new stills from "The Stunt Driver," a comedy-drama starring Jay Baruchel that will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 11 September, ahead of a theatrical release on 25 September. IFC acquired the film on 21 July, and it reunites director Michael Dowse with Baruchel, who previously brought their hit ice hockey film "Goon" to the same festival in 2011.

Set in the mid-1970s, the film tells the story of Canadian stunt driver Ken Carter, played by Baruchel, as he attempts a mile-long rocket car jump across the St. Lawrence River while contending with personal struggles and comparisons to American daredevil Evel Knievel, portrayed by Ben Foster. The cast also includes Laurence Leboeuf as Carter's wife Gloria and Ed Helms as technician Dick Keller, who builds the rocket car and forms a close friendship with Carter. Carter's real-life exploits were previously documented in the 1981 film "The Devil at Your Heels," which also features in Dowse's retelling. Dowse wrote and directed the film, produced by Jennifer Wilson and Dowse for Film Cardinal.
