Jay-Z Drops First New Verse in Years on Beyoncé’s New ‘Morning Dew (Donk)’ Remix
Developing story first seen 3 hours ago
Beyoncé has released an extended four-track remix pack for "Morning Dew (Donk)", featuring Jay-Z's first new rap verse in nearly five years. The archival track, which dates back to her self-titled Beyoncé album era and was originally shared last month, now includes new production drawing on samples from Soulja Boy, the Isley Brothers and Sheck Wes, alongside Jay-Z's added verse in which he brushes off any envy over his wealth and marriage.
The release also includes non-explicit versions of the original recording and remix. Written by Beyoncé with Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, the song serves as an early preview of celebrations for the 20th anniversary of her second album, B'Day, with an anniversary edition due on her birthday, 4 September. The drop follows Beyoncé's recent on-stage appearances with Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium, where she performed "Can't Knock the Hustle" and "Drunk in Love" during his three-night run marking the anniversaries of Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint.

Beyoncé's "Morning Dew (Donk)" started life as a track from the era of her self-titled 2013 album, "Beyoncé", and was only shared more widely last month. She has now released it as a fuller remix package, adding new production and samples on top of the original recording.
The notable addition is a new verse from Jay-Z, the rapper and music executive who is married to Beyoncé. He has largely stepped back from recording new material in recent years, so any fresh verse from him draws attention. The song was co-written by Beyoncé alongside regular collaborators Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon.
The release also ties into a bigger anniversary: Beyoncé's second album, "B'Day", turns 20 this year, and a special anniversary edition is due out on her birthday, 4 September. It follows a run of joint appearances by the couple, including Beyoncé joining Jay-Z on stage at Yankee Stadium during shows marking anniversaries of his own albums "Reasonable Doubt" and "The Blueprint".
