Before his political career, Schmitt played varsity football and baseball at Truman State University in Missouri and brings experience as a lawyer and leader within the Republican Attorneys General Association. Conservative figures have praised Schmitt as a "drama-free" choice who could strengthen the ticket without creating complications.
