Sadie Sink has confirmed that she plays Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, marking the mutant character’s introduction ahead of Marvel Studios’ planned “X-Men” film. The reveal is significant because it establishes Sink as the third screen actor to portray Jean Grey and signals a larger role for the character in the MCU, although she would not disclose the length of her Marvel contract.

Sink said she kept the role secret for more than a year, arriving on the London set without a full script and using a code name for security. The character’s identity was accidentally revealed by musician Steve Lacy at the Los Angeles premiere, while the film reportedly took $1.15 billion worldwide in seven days and surpassed “Avengers: Endgame” for the biggest domestic opening. Sink said she was initially unfamiliar with Jean Grey and the “X-Men” films, but was approached by Marvel executives Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito.
