STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Jeff Gutt has said he believes the band are working towards making a new studio album, though he stressed he would be equally content if they never released another record and simply continued touring their classic catalogue. Speaking in an interview with Remzi "Jam Man" Yates for Rocking With Jam Man, Gutt explained that any decision to record would happen organically rather than to a set schedule, reflecting his relaxed attitude towards STP's future output after nine years fronting the band.

Gutt also discussed why setlists sometimes exclude songs from his own tenure, citing tracks such as "Meadow" as vocally demanding to perform night after night, meaning he often opts for older favourites like "Crackerman" instead. He noted that bandmates Robert and Dean DeLeo have each released solo material, giving them creative outlets outside STP, and reflected that changing listening habits — with fans now consuming music in short bursts on streaming platforms rather than fully engaging with albums — have altered how new songs become "classics".
