Jeff Lynne made classics with ELO and the Beatles. His favourite album was someone else’s solo debut
Jeff Lynne, known for Electric Light Orchestra and his work with George Harrison, Roy Orbison and the Beatles, called Tom Petty’s solo debut *Full Moon Fever* his favourite album he had worked on. The record showed how collaboration could bring out a different side of an artist while preserving the musical instincts that had made his band successful.
Recorded largely in guitarist Mike Campbell’s garage studio, the album was produced by Lynne and Campbell, with Campbell also contributing as a Heartbreaker. Lynne praised the collaboration and the album’s success, while his preference for dry vocals helped keep Petty’s voice intimate amid the polished production.
