Jensen Ackles will star in *Rules of Prey*, an eight-episode crime thriller commissioned by MGM+. Based on John Sandford’s first Lucas Davenport novel, the series follows a former Minneapolis detective drawn back into police work to investigate murders targeting him. Production begins this month in Toronto, with the show planned for release across several countries, including the UK and Ireland.

Ackles will play Davenport, a highly intelligent and unconventional investigator who faces a serial killer with a personal vendetta and a distinctive moral code. Bruce Terris is showrunner and executive producer, while Daniel Sackheim will direct the first two episodes; Ackles will also executive produce. The project adapts the opening book in a series that has since grown to 36 novels, most recently *Revenge Prey* in 2026.
