‘Jersey Shore’ star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is 4-months sober — reveals the drug cocktail behind his rock bottom
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro says he has been sober for four months after seeking treatment for addiction and depression. The “Jersey Shore” star said his appearance at a SiriusXM interview in April was caused by taking Seroquel late at night, which left him drowsy, rather than by opioids or fentanyl as some had speculated.
He said he had resumed using cocaine in January after his prescribed medicines were not easing his depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety. In May, after experiencing suicidal thoughts, he sought care at a medically supervised treatment centre in Cancun that uses ibogaine, which is illegal in the United States. Since returning home, he says he has focused on parenting his eight-year-old daughter, self-care and sobriety.
