A New South Wales Supreme Court jury heard a recording of the three gunshots that prosecutors say killed television presenter Jesse Baird and Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies in February 2024. Baird’s mother, Helen, gave tearful testimony but did not hear the recording because, as a Crown witness, she had to remain outside court until after giving evidence. The accused, former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, denies two murder charges and aggravated break and enter.

Prosecutors allege Lamarre-Condon shot Baird twice at a Paddington share house, then shot Davies, with the gunshots recorded at 9.49am and during the following minute. The men’s bodies were found eight days later in surfboard bags near Bungonia, about 185 kilometres south-west of Sydney. The defence says Lamarre-Condon entered disguised as an Uber Eats courier to collect belongings, that Baird and Davies struggled with him, and that the shootings occurred in self-defence.
