Harlem rapper Jim Jones, a member of The Diplomats (Dipset), has claimed on the "No Funny Sh–" podcast that he has "a better catalog than over 90 percent of the rappers out of New York City in history". The boast matters as the latest in a run of headline-grabbing statements from Jones about his standing in hip-hop, keeping the long-running debate over his legacy alive.

The comments came when Jones was asked about a Verzuz challenge he had aimed at fellow Dipset member Cam'ron in May, which he admitted was partly trolling. Backing up his claim, he pointed to his "real gold records" and "platinum singles", arguing that many admired rappers have nothing certified platinum and that "statistically" his body of work stands out, particularly in New York. The remarks echo controversy from a year earlier, when Jones faced heavy pushback after a viral clip suggested he was more relevant than Nas — a reaction he later conceded he had underestimated in an interview with Angie Martinez.
