Jimmy Stewart Biopic Officially Honors Service Members and Veterans With New Release

The biopic *Jimmy*, starring KJ Apa as Jimmy Stewart, has opened in cinemas and is offering free opening-night screenings to service members and their families worldwide. The initiative, funded by the Timothy T. Day Foundation and Lockheed Martin, honours Stewart’s military service and connects the film’s release with the people it aims to pay tribute to.

Set after Stewart won an Oscar for *The Philadelphia Story* in 1941, the film follows his decision to leave Hollywood and join the Army Air Corps, where he flew more than 20 combat missions and rose to colonel. It also explores how his wartime experience shaped *It’s a Wonderful Life*. Stewart’s daughter and the film’s executive producer, Kelly Stewart Harcourt, endorsed the film and the free screenings; critics have given it 65% on Rotten Tomatoes.
