Producer and songwriter Joe Reeves has spoken about creating "Boston" with rising artist Stella Lefty, a pop-country crossover track that has become one of the songs of the summer. It has climbed into the top five of both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs chart, sitting alongside releases from Ella Langley, Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift, and has pushed Reeves to number four on Billboard's Hot 100 Producers chart.

Reeves, who is originally from south London, met Lefty in 2025 and the pair first collaborated on "The Kill", which later featured in Scream 7. "Boston", which interpolates Noah Kahan's "Stick Season", was written with Lefty, Grace Enger and Jacob "J-Kash" Hindlin during a January 2026 Nashville session, before being finished at Reeves's small Los Angeles studio. He credited Lefty's preference for recording vocals on a simple SM7B microphone, rather than costlier studio equipment, for giving the track its intimate, unpolished feel, and praised the current strength of female artists in country music.
