John Goodman admits he felt ‘frightened’ after the sudden fame he experienced from ‘Roseanne’
John Goodman says the sudden fame he experienced after starring in *Roseanne* frightened him and took a long time to adjust to. In a SAG-AFTRA Foundation conversation, he said he wished he had understood fame better and described himself as his own worst enemy.
Goodman recalled being urged to hire a publicist as his career took off in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but said celebrity did not feel like him. *Roseanne* ran for nine seasons from 1988 to 1997, producing 222 episodes and winning four Emmy Awards. He later starred in films including *The Big Lebowski* and returned as Dan Conner in the 2018 reboot and its spin-off, *The Conners*.
