Country singer John Rich has warned that rising property valuations and higher taxes could threaten long-established businesses on Nashville’s Lower Broadway, potentially dimming the district’s famous neon-lit nightlife. He argues that the pressure could undermine a major tourism and music-industry landmark ahead of Nashville hosting the Super Bowl.

Rich described the combination of soaring appraisals and tax increases as a “one-two punch” and a possible “death nail” for businesses. He said venues could face sharply higher costs, claiming they might need to charge as much as $50 for a beer to remain viable.
