DJ John Summit publicly challenged Pete Tong's handling of a remix project, alleging that Tong had promised to release an orchestral remix of 'Missing' by Everything But The Girl as a joint effort but instead took Summit's work to release alongside a version by Franky Rizardo. Summit shared message screenshots documenting their earlier discussions and noted that Rizardo had been unaware of these arrangements.

Tong responded with his own evidence, including an email proposal to Summit's team outlining plans for multiple remix versions by different artists to be staggered throughout the summer. Tong stated he felt unfairly accused and claimed to have attempted direct contact with Summit through phone and text without success. Following the exchange, Rizardo announced his withdrawal from the project, deciding the circumstances no longer felt appropriate for his participation.
